Programming Assignment 1 (PA1) has now been released on PrairieLearn.

As a reminder, the assignment will be graded out of four points:

• 4: Complete, with only minor errors or feedback across all parts
• 3: Some errors or incompleteness; most parts complete and correct
• 2: Significant errors in multiple parts; several parts incomplete
• 1: Non-empty submission of some parts of the assignment
• 0: Not submitted/not attempted

The due date is Friday, October 9 at 11:59 PM.

Important Note

Please spend some time as soon as you can to attempt parts of this assignment. It is open-ended, meaning you have a lot of freedom in how you approach it. We also believe that parts of it are challenging, and you may be asked to do tasks like these (though a bit smaller) on exams without internet access or AI assistance.

This might help some of you calibrate a little bit if CSE8A is a better fit for you this quarter – there is still plenty of time to enroll in, and succeed in, CSE8A.

Also, please note that the autograder only confirms that your submission is gradeable. Given the open-ended nature of the assignment, and the addition of written response questions, these results will not constitute your final grade.
